Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Anthony was seen back on 5-8-19 for a routine pediatric visit for shortness of breath. This was not uncommon for Anthony as he has had several bouts of croup since he was a baby, and every time he got a cold it moved to his airway. Dr. Smith with Sartell Pediatrics (an amazing pediatrician!) noted a lump in Anthony’s neck. Over the corse of the month the lump got larger. We were referred to Ear nose and throat where we met Dr. Hanson (an amazing Surgeon of whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with the last 17 years). Things progressed quickly after that we went to CDI for CT of his neck and chest which came back abnormal. (Hats off the the amazing team at CDI, thank you for the phenomenal care). We were scheduled for a lymph node biopsy at the St. Cloud Surgical Center 6/10/19 (my 2nd home, the care outstanding so blessed to have such a fantastic work family)
6/17/19 we met with Dr. Hanson and received the news that would make any parent shutter! His lymph node shows cancer, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Many thanks to Dr. Hanson and his team including the pathology team for the kind compassionate care. We were then referred to Children’s.
6/21/19 we went for PET scan, 6/22 had tests all morning and met with Anthony’s oncologist Dr. Miller. Anthony was diagnosed stage 4 Nodular Sclerosis Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We learned our treatment plan includes 5 rounds of Chemotherapy. Each round consists of Chemo infusions Day 1,2,3 and day 8, 2 week break and then begin next round. We were inpatient for Day 1,2,3 round 1, and outpatient for day 8. 7/5 Anthony finished round 1 Absolute neutrophil count was 0...which means he has no immune system has no defense, we were instructed to watch for fever...4 to go.
7/5/19 -Anthony’s spiked a fever about 11 pm and into the ED we went. Counts in the tank. We were hospitalized through Tues 7/9. His counts are rallying and we hope to start round 2 7/22/19. Thanks to all of our caregivers at Children’s and St. Cloud Hospital!
