On December 27th, Ben and I got home from visiting my relatives for Christmas. That night I went to bed exhausted and with a slight headache. I started having seizures around 11:30 pm and Ben called 911. Once we were at the hospital in Atchison, I was magnesium to prevent further seizures. We had no idea before then that I had developed eclampsia. At 26 weeks pregnant, the only cure was to deliver my baby via c-section. Thus, early on December 28th in Topeka, Kansas, our son Anthony John Rioux was born, weighing 2 pounds. We will record his NICU journey here.
