Dear Family and Friends,

On the evening of June 4 Mom was crossing the garden to visit a neighbor. One misstep was all it took, and suddenly she was flat on her face in the neighbor's driveway. Finding mom unconscious and bleeding was pretty terrifying, but adrenaline kicked in and I managed to call 911, call the neighbor, and  text David so he could come  to stay with Dad. The firetruck arrived, the paramedics were great, and we ended up spending most of the night in the ER where an awesome team performed a reduction on mom's wrist, which was broken in two places.

Today (Wednesday, I think), in a hospital room at Mission with a beautiful view of Mount Pisgah, things seem much brighter than they did two nights ago. Mom stayed overnight in the hospital because of a tiny spot of blood on her brain, which, thankfully has now settled down and will not be an issue. Besides breaking her wrist, she chipped her front teeth, cut the inside of her mouth, had a major hematoma on the left side of her head, and has a variety of small cuts and bruises on the left side of her face.  She is understandably sore.

The physical therapists will return today and we are hoping they will recommend that mom transition to a rehab facility until she is steady on her feet.

We welcome your prayers, but are discouraging visitors at this time. Mom is mostly sleeping, which is the best thing for her. Besides the obvious breaks, cuts and bruises, she is still processing the trauma of the fall.  Thank you for understanding!

We will post progress reports here.

Thank you for your love and support.
