Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On October 29, 2018 I went in to see my family doctor, Dr. John West, who also happens to be my brother in law for him to examine a place on my abdomen where I was having pain.  John quickly got me in to have two CT scans where the radiologist saw a tumor in my liver and also two very small masses in each of my lungs.  The next day the doctors took a biopsy of my tissue and two weeks later we were told that I had Stage Four lung cancer.

My cancer is not curable so the treatment goal is to reduce the size of the mass in my liver and to stop the spread of the cancer in my body.  After many tests, several different doctors' appointments and opininions, and much anxiety it was determined and agreed upon that the best treatment option for me would be a combination of chemotherapy and immunotherapy every 3 weeks.

I began treatment on December 3, 2018 and my next treatment will be December 28th so that I can feel my best during Christmas.   In January I will have a scan to determine if the treatment is working and that result will be ready for me on January 16.  Assuming the treatment is working and my body handles it okay, the plan that I have been given from the doctors is a cycle of every 3 weeks for two years.

Thank-you to all of my family and friends for your prayers, love and various efforts to help George and I along this journey.
