Our Mom was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. As she has done her entire life, Mom accepted the challenge with grace, determination and courage. It quickly became clear that this cancer is an aggressive and fast growing cancer that had metastasized into many abdominal organs. Due to this, Mom struggled to eat and drink and many other complications quickly arose. Mom was hospitalized on April 27 for various issues that were resulting from her tumors. Mom has been fighting since then to eat and drink, even though it is very unpleasant for her, working hard at physical therapy to regain her strength and taking her medications. In spite of all of her efforts, it has become clear that her body is too weak for cancer treatments and her organs too riddled with cancer to deal with the impact cancer treatment would have on her body. Mom made the decision yesterday to be released into hospice at home and she will go home on Thursday.
