Annette Bacehowski

Annette Marie (Van Gessel) Bacehowski has and continues to lead a life devoted to helping others.  The youngest girl in a brood of ten wonderful Van Gessel children, she has touched many lives as a mother, teacher and friend.  She has worked tirelessly her whole life to raise with Dave their children Christopher, Daniel (Sarah), Bryan (Rebecca) and Kelly (Sam), as well as to impart her joy for life upon others' children as a dedicated preschool teacher.  Today her love and energy is shared with her six grandchildren (Anna, Gabriel, Grant, Miles, Eleanor and Kale), as well as the St. Basil Catholic Church parish and greater South Haven community.
On March 7th of this year Annette was diagnosed with Stage 3 lung cancer.  As an active and healthy woman who was a diligent and outspoken proponent of preventative healthcare, we were all shocked and saddened to find that her persistent cough (previously thought to be pneumonia) was in fact a symptom of this terrible disease.
Now the zeal with which 'Nettie has attacked life will be directed towards this fight and, God-willing, we will help her prevail.  Today is the day when all of the love and generosity that she has yielded to others for decades, as well as all of the conscientious effort she has put in to living a healthy lifestyle will come back and repay her.
