Dear Anne's Friends and Relations,

It is with great sadness that we must report to you that the brain cancer Anne is suffering from is glioblastoma.  This particular cancer grows very rapidly and is almost always fatal.  Anne learned of her diagnosis after her operation to remove a brain tumor on September 23, 2019.

Shortly after this surgery Anne began an aggressive six week treatment program that combined radiation therapy and chemotherapy.  Her spirit and outlook remained positive throughout this treatment regime despite the side effects of extreme fatigue and hair loss.  When she finished the treatment in early December it was time to wait to see whether or not the treatment had arrested the growth of the cancer and extended her life.

The results of an MRI taken in mid-January were not the results we were hoping for.  Despite the aggressive treatment, Anne's cancer had continued to grow.  The presence of the cancer combined with the negative effects of the cancer treatment resulted in Anne rapidly losing her strength and ability to fight the disease effectively.  She is now almost completely bedridden and very fatigued.

On Friday, January 24, 2020 Anne entered the Hospice program.

Despite all that has transpired Anne is still alert and witty--with her close relatives as favorite targets. Currently she is living with her brother, Don, in Oakland while the bathroom in her own condo is being renovated.  She is looking forward to returning to her Walnut Creek home very soon.

Anne appreciates all the email messages, text messages and cards her friends and relatives have sent her over the last few months.  Your thoughts and love have lifted her spirits.  Early in her illness Anne requested that her diagnosis remain confidential.  And we honored that request. Now, however, she wants all of you to know her condition and prognosis.  She wishes she could respond to each message individually and hopes you understand that she cannot.

The best way to communicate with Anne is by regular mail, or to post messages directly on this site.  All messages and letters are read to Anne once they are received.

Anne's Address: 1748 Oakmont Drive, Apt. 4, Walnut Creek, CA 94595

Thank you all for your well wishes and love for our Annie.
