In 1998, Ann started her personal journey with MARFAN Syndrome. Prior to this, the syndrome had affected her mother Kitty Brady Dolesh, Aunt Nancy Brady Hoiberg, Uncle Pete Brady, Grandfather Bernard Brady and Brothers Jimmy, Mark and John Dolesh all of whom are deceased. Ann was told by numerous physicians over a 20 year period that she did not have the syndrome but in September of 1998, she developed an ascending aortic dissection attributed ultimately to her genetic make-up. Emergency life saving  open heart surgery was performed at Beth Israel Hospital in NYC. We were told that normally they see 1 and 2 alarm fires and they can put them out. Rarely do they see a 3 alarm fire that they can extinguish. Ann was a 5 alarm fire and they "Put Her Out"!

That was 19 years ago. since then she has undergone an abdominal aortic grafting and lost function to her left kidney due to an aortic blockage in 2000, had that 2000 surgery redone in 2006, had an experimental stent placed in 2008 and while all this was going on, had internal lens replacement in both eyes due to tissue deterioration.

Her current surgery is to improve the blood flow to the front of her heart. and to replace a distended aortic root. As always her attitude and demeanor is extremely positive and she fully understands that she has put herself in the hands of the best surgeons in the world and is held closely in the hollow of God's hand.
