Welcome to our site to let folks know what’s going on with Ann. On July 13th, after returning from the grocery store, she had a stroke when getting out of her car. She fell in the parking lot at The Brightmore where she lives, probably as a result of the stroke, and hit her head hard enough to break her cheekbone and cause a traumatic brain injury.
After a 2-week stay in various departments at New Hanover RMC hospital, she has moved to Bradley Creek Health Center, a skilled nursing facility, where she will receive intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy to heal and recover.
It’s unclear at this point just what Ann’s prognosis is. Her doctor thinks that she is more impacted by the fall than by the stroke. Apparently while she was in the hospital, there were days when she talked a bit with the nurses, and days when she mostly slept. Since moving to Bradley Creek, she’s mostly sleeping again, probably trying to recover from the upheaval of the move from the hospital.
Because of safety precautions related to COVID-19, she cannot have visitors, but she can receive cards. Her address at Bradley Creek is:
