Mom was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer in January of 2010. Thanks to the early detection and quick lumpectomy, followed by chemo treatments, at USC Norris Cancer Center, mom was in remission 6 months later.
In February 2012, the cancer had returned and was also found in the lymph nodes. Once again, mom's commitment to quarterly check-ups, and the wonderful treatment at USC Norris, ensured that mom would once again beat breast cancer! It was a tough year of chemo and radiation, but we were all thrilled once she was healthy and strong. Mom had about 18 months of excellent health. Mom travelled to Lourdes, France with her friends at Holy Family Church to visit the healing waters. She has cherished that trip and the time she spend with her friends. She also travelled to Jacksonhole, Vegas, Albuquerque, Aspen, Lake Arrowhead and Newport Beach with her family and friends. Mom has continued to share her music, especially with her two grandchildren (and honorary grandchildren).
Unfortunately, in February 2015, we received the scans telling us that Mom's breast cancer had come back for a third time and had now metastasized to her bone. USC Norris, and all her friends and family, once again helped my mom fight. Though we were told that the cancer would not be eradicated, we were told that with the treatment, mom had years of health and happiness ahead.
In September 2016, we were saddened to hear that the cancer had spread to her bone marrow, tear ducts and stomach lining. Mom found herself back in chemo for a short time, but is now back to the hormone treatments and will soon begin radiation on her eyes. We pray that this treatment will make her strong enough to return to her regular daily life. We know mom wants nothing more than to find the physical strength and wellness that would enable her to get back to work and spending quality time with her family and friends.
Mom's strength and faith continues to amaze us through the fight. We thank you all for your love, support and prayers for Mom.
