As many of you already know, on Tuesday, January 12 Anna was hit by a car while jogging on the Natchez Trace Trail in Jackson, MS. She is 22 and in her last semester of nursing school with big plans to be a pediatric oncology nurse. She is currently in ICU at University of Mississippi Medical Center and is heavily sedated while she recovers from a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Visitation is extremely restricted, so although we cannot see Anna we can all honor Jon and Jeannie's request for real, continuous prayers for Anna's full recovery. She is still not out of the woods and is still in great need of our constant prayers.

Each TBI case is unique, and it is a long, slow road to recovery. Jon and Jeannie do not expect significant changes in her condition at this point, so we may not have daily updates to share. As of yesterday, Anna's brain pressure was stable and there was no change, which is good news. There has been concern of fluid around her heart, but they received a positive report from an echocardiogram on Saturday. The fluid is not completely gone, so those of you looking to pray for specific requests could please pray for the fluid build-up to cease.

Jeannie and Jon asked me to set up this page to keep you all informed on changes in her condition and also to post specific prayer requests as they occur. In addition to our constant prayer for full recovery, they will be seeking prayers for specific issues as they arise. In the top corner on this page you can set up Notifications and choose to be alerted by text or email each time I add a journal entry. Jeannie will send me her specific requests, and I will post immediately to get a strong prayer chain going when Anna is needing immediate specific prayer. Hopefully this will help Jeannie communicate with all of us at the same time. You can also download the Caring Bridge app on your phone.

Jeannie and Jon also want to make sure that each of you know that your prayers and love for their family mean more than you can imagine. They cannot begin to fully express their gratitude for the wave of love and support they have received. They have their phones on silent as they live at Anna's side, but want you to know that even if they do not respond to a text, email or voicemail that your words are being read and heard and are a constant source of strength and peace. They will also read your messages on this page.

Right now they have no immediate needs other than prayer. They believe fully in the power of prayer and believe in their hearts that God's will is for Anna to recover completely. They are asking you to pray for a miracle and to add Anna to as many prayer groups, lists and chains as you can. The boys are in good shape with a strong support system in place for their needs too. As specific needs arise I will post here, and we can organize as we go.

Anna is strong and vibrant with the will to do great things in this world. In addition to her family, she is loved by so many precious friends who are eager to have her joyful soul back laughing and living life to the fullest with them. I am praying with all my heart for Anna to recover fully and be back on her chosen path. Using words from Jeannie's favorite Infant of Prague Novena "I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted."
