Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place and save time with updates. This way the updates will be accessible to those who aren't on facebook.  Please feel free to share my site.  Our family appreciates your prayers, support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

A mass was found on my right ovary during a routine ultrasound on August 8.  I had a CT & x-ray on August 9 and met with Dr. Maly.  He sent me to Dr. Tierney, a gynecological oncologist, at Methodist (Estrabrook Cancer Center)  in Omaha.  I had surgery on August 23 and spent 3 nights in the hospital. The pathology came back that I had cancer in both ovaries and on the outside of my right ovary.  I was staged at 1C2 and feel very lucky we found it as early as we did.

I was able to go back to school part-time after about 2.5 weeks by teaching just my Exeter schedule. A retired music teacher and friend, Judy Vrbka, taught my Milligan schedule.  I went back full time this week (September 24) and it has gone pretty well so far.

I am doing my chemo in Lincoln at the Southeast Cancer Center. Dr. Green is my oncologist.  I will have 6 cycles of chemo, 3 weeks apart.
