Andy Reeves

On May 18, 2012, my husband and best friend, Andy Reeves, was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma brain tumor.

A little background … There are 12 cranial nerves that emerge from the brain. This specific tumor originates of the 8th cranial nerve. When these tumors are large, they can compress and displace normal brain tissue, which had happened for Andy. Vital functions to sustain life can be threatened when tumors cause pressure and movement of the brainstem and cerebellum. Because of this, it had to be removed. One month later, he had brain surgery, and his surgeon removed as much tumor as possible.

Andy is a strong, amazing man. He fought back through a tough recovery with serious complications. He never gave up and we trusted our awesome God every step of the way. As we allowed God to carry us, He showed us that His perfect love is greater than our fear … and that His faithful promises are true. He brought us peace that surpasses all understanding. He has blessed us beyond measure. God is so good.

Andy now faces another brain surgery to remove more tumor and also drain a cyst that has grown off of his tumor. Complications have arisen from the combination of the two masses. Too much pressure is being placed on his brainstem (causing symptoms for Andy), and the opening of the 4th ventricle of the brain, where cerebrospinal fluid flows, is closing in size. His surgery is scheduled for January 3, 2017, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. We are trusting our loving God and his mighty strength. God is bigger than this tumor and anything else we will ever face in our lives! This is our faith journey and we are so thankful for God’s power, grace and healing in Andy’s life. We are also so thankful for your prayers, love and support. You are a blessing to us! I will be posting updates to Caring Bridge regarding Andy’s surgery and recovery.  Thank you for visiting Andy's Caring Bridge website.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
