Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Andrew had been fighting the flu and took a rapid turn for the worse on Friday, March 3 when he was diagnosed with pneumonia and sent to the Emergency Room. The ER staff at Evanston Hospital immediately realized Andrew was in a fight for his life and needed to be transferred to Pediatric ICU at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital. It took several hours to get Andrew's body to a strong enough state that his body could handle the transport. Upon arrival at Children's Hospital, Andrew was taken into surgery to be connected to a life supporting machine called ECMO which bypasses Andrew's heart and lungs so they can rest.

Thankfully with incredible, medical care and a tremendous outpouring of support, Andrew's condition stabilized late Friday night - allowing his body to begin healing. He has a long journey ahead of him. God willing, he will be in ICU for several weeks. At this point, he is still sedated and supported by ECMO. The immediate term goal is to keep Andrew in a sedated, stable state so his body can begin it's long, healing journey. Down the road, when his body is stronger, the doctors will gradually transfer responsibility back to his heart and lungs (as tolerated).

We believe your prayers and support have helped sustain Andrew! We are thankful for our large family, many friends and wonderful communities (QAS, Notre Dame, UCSF,  hockey, etc). Please continue to pray for a full recovery for Andrew. We'd also appreciate prayers for peace of mind for Paul, Lisa, the boys and our extended family.

P.S. Meals are being coordinated through QAS.
