On June 1st 2020 my mom was admitted to the hospital for emergent surgery for gastric vulvulous secondary to her hiatal hernia and acid reflux. At the time of surgery she was diagnosed with COVID-19. At first we focused on her recovery from surgery but soon it was clear the real threat was COVID-19.

On June 12 she was put on ventilator support. As you all know my mom was an active, vivacious, and social woman. She is on a long  journey of recovery from the massive lung injury and associated acquired weakness from her prolonged hospitalization. She has struggled with isolation due to extensive COVID-19 restrictions that are hitting skilled nursing facilities the hardest. It is time to active friends and family to offer her encouragement and support during her stay at the skilled nursing facility as she rehabilitates and recovers.

My mom is at: Respiratory and Nursing Center of Dayton https://dayton-respiratory.foundationshealth.net/
Address: 3421 Pinnacle Road, Moraine, OH 45439

Send cards, notes, tokens of encouragement. Any creative ideas you have to help her feel the love and support that surrounds outside those walls.
