Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

From Mark:  The Beginning-Several months ago, Amy developed a cough that did not go away. Amy is the anti-hypochondriac. She will deny anything is wrong with herself as a minor ailment and not let it slow her down. Her General Practitioner declared it allergies and sent her on her way with instructions to take allergy medicine and nasal spray. Our family was skeptical and continued to encourage her to return to the GP as the cough continued for weeks and then months. In mid-June her voice started to change. She returned to the GP and was offered the same prognosis, allergies. She was able to receive a referral to an Ear, Nose, & Throat (ENT) doctor.

A week later, the ENT doctor scoped her throat and found that the right side of her vocal cords were paralyzed. Finding the cause of this paralysis now became the top priority. A follow-up CT scan revealed a tumor 7.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 CM near her Aorta and pushing against the nerves to the vocal cords.

Our family is scared and nervous about what this means. We have decided to take one step at time. Our knowledge about this tumor is currently zero, so we are trying not to let our concerns and the multitude of scenarios dominate our thoughts.

Amy welcomes love and support during this time. We will have more information on her treatment plan in the coming days and weeks, but we are looking to family and friends to buoy our spirits and surround us in their love.

We will take one step at a time, and then another, and then another. . .
