As most of you know by now, on June 13, 2017, Amy S. Henderson received a definitive diagnosis of NUT Midline Carcinoma (NMC).  This is an extremely rare and aggressive cancer.  Aggressive chemotherapy began on June 14 and accelerated radiation on Monday, June 19th. There is a related clinical trial to consider, but that would mean going to Boston for an extended time after chemo has been tried. This is not a hereditary cancer, that's a good thing, but it is so rare that little research has been done and there are no established treatment protocols.  Her oncologist is great and is already getting feedback from doctors around the world, including doctors from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston who are on the cutting edge of what little research has been done on this rare cancer. The historical prognosis for people with NMC is not encouraging.  

If you know Amy, you know she is a fighter, and overcomer, and full of courage and determination.  She brings all of that to the fight.  But she will need your help, encouragement, and prayer.  It is overwhelming how much has been offered on her behalf already.  In this Caring Bridge site we hope to keep everyone up-to-date on her condition and progress in an efficient way.  We hope to identify specific ways in which you can help.  We hope to bring you reason to rejoice!
