On January 11, 2021, Amy was diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer). Since her diagnosis, she has been going through lots of testing to figure out her plan of care moving forward. Thankfully, this type of breast cancer is very common and treatable. 

The treatment plan as of now is that she will undergo surgery to remove the cancer on February 22, 2021. After surgery, the doctors will determine if chemotherapy is needed, but currently do not believe she will have to have it! If Amy does not need chemotherapy, once she is healed from surgery, she will proceed with Radiation Therapy. Amy will have to have Radiation treatment everyday for 4-6 weeks. Once radiation is completed (and cancer is gone-Lord willing) the doctors will decide next steps for long term management to reduce chances of recurrence.

Amy obviously has been under enormous stress and worry, but as usual, she has been more concerned about how this is going to affect everyone else...kids, school, Adam's football season (Go T-Bolts!). Amy, Adam, and the kids have an amazing support system, family, friends, schools, and church. Throughout Amy's journey, we will keep everyone updated as to what is happening via this Caring Bridge page. We ask that you keep the Lewandowski's in prayers. Please pray for peace and healing for Amy as she endures treatment and the stresses that come with it, and wisdom for the doctors throughout this journey. We also ask that you lift up Adam, Emma, Olivia, Luke and Reese as they go through this journey along side Amy.
