After struggling with what I believed were gastrointestinal issues for the past several months - being diagnosed with an ulcer and SIBO as explanations for my symptoms - my GI doctor finally ordered a CT scan.  It showed large masses on both of my ovaries and in other parts of my abdomen.  On April 12th, I saw a gynecological oncologist at the James and was told that I have stage 3 ovarian cancer.  I've been a healthy human for my whole life, and I don't fit any of the risk categories for developing ovarian cancer, so this came as a huge shock to me.  I'm working hard everyday to remember that this is beginning of my recovery and to be grateful for my life. I'm especially grateful that I am getting to spend time outside in the warm weather and watch the spring flowers bloom. Tulips are my favorite flower and they are EVERYWHERE!
