I started going to a doctor because I had crazy blistering going down my back, in my eye, nose and especially my mouth. has been going on for quite some time - but I ignored it until it became unbearable. As it turned out I have a rare autoimmune disease call Pemphigus. I am told this may be a Paraneoplastic Syndrome for lung cancer.
The tumor was found because my doctor needed me to be cleared for TB or pneumonia by taking an x-ray. Then had to get a CT Scan and PET Scan...and her I am - Stage IIIB non small cell lung cancer. Shocked.
I met with several doctors, answered the same questions over and over. I decided to go with MSKCC - I am part of a study, not sure if I am in the controlled group or the group that will receive a new radiation technique -- either way, I know I will recieve the best care I can get.
