Amber Callahan is a beautiful and vibrant young woman who is known for her sweet spirit, quiet strength, wise counsel and fervent love for Jesus and others. These past few months have been filled with precious milestones, shock and great FAITH!
At the end of July, Amber celebrated her 28th birthday with her family and friends in Covington, Louisiana- a suburb of New Orleans. Shortly afterwards, she and her husband Chris celebrated their 1 year anniversary. One week later, she started feeling like she had a chest cold. After a few days of taking some over-the-counter medicines, she noticed she wasn't getting better so she went to the doctor. They saw fluid on her lungs and sent her to the hospital. After a chest x ray, Amber and Chris were given the shocking news that Amber had tumors in her breast, lungs and sternum. She was young and healthy and they had thought at worst, she had pneumonia. Initially, of course, they were devastated. Family, friends and spiritual family immediately surrounded them with love by lifting them up in prayer and visiting them within the first few hours of the diagnosis. Shortly thereafter, she was admitted to the hospital where they did further tests and scans that revealed she had stage 4 breast cancer that had also spread to her liver. After detailed analysis of all of the test results, the doctors have formulated a treatment plan.
We are hoping our CaringBridge website can be her spiritual treatment plan that keeps her spirits high and body strong by providing she and Chris with encouragement, interceding for them in prayer, reminding them of God's promises of healing and comfort in the Bible, organizing ways to bring her food that nourishes her body, and helping ease the financial burden of medical bills now and to come.
