Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Matt and I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Of course, you can call or message us any time, but we thought it would be less overwhelming and easier to put out info for everyone to see here. Thank you for visiting.
If you know me, you know I am not much of a "sharer" when it comes to my personal info and I hate being in the spotlight. The last thing I ever want to do is be a burden or have people feeling sorry for me. So if you reach out and I don't say much, it's not that I don't appreciate you or need/want your support. I probably just feel awkward talking about it.
As I post info here, please feel free to comment or reach out to me or Matt privately. If you have personal experiences or info you think might help us make treatment/surgery/alternative care decisions, please, please do share! This is all new and scary territory. There is so much information out there, and much of it is very conflicting. Even the info you get from the doctors can seem conflicting and overwhelming. I'll take any help I can get to sort through it and make the best decisions.
On July 2, 2021 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, to be exact. My first appointments with Surgeon, Plastic Surgeon, Oncologist and Radiation Therapist were July 15, 2021. I received a lot of information at those appointments and some tentative, rough plans were made but more info is needed and this is a fluid, ever-evolving situation. Please see the Journal entries where I will make updates and add more specific info as I get it. Thank you all! If you believe in prayer, please pray a lot! Right this second we could use prayers specifically for a low ONC score and no lymph node involvement. Those are the two main driving factors at this moment. They will determine whether Chemo is needed or not.
