Dear Friends and Family of Amalia,

On Wednesday morning, October 21, my sister Amalia, suffered a major stroke.  She was taken by ambulance to a Racine hospital then life-flighted to Milwaukee's Ascension St. Mary Hospital where she remains in critical condition.   After the first procedure for the initial stroke while in the ICU, she suffered a second.  Luckily, they were able to act quickly to successfully treat that one.  At this time, she remains  medically sedated, keeping her quiet and comfortable while her brain has some time to heal.   The doctors feel that her young age bodes well for her and anticipate her to transition off of the ventilator in the next day.  As she rouses, we'll have a better understanding of her condition.   Her Covid test was negative.

We all know Amy to be a graceful-warrior, and are hopeful for her swift recovery.  Her husband Bryan, is managing these sudden and unexpected changes the best he can, very well might I add.  Their ten year old son, Matthew, is of course heart broken  but is doing well all things considered.  He has been spending time with his dad and friends in these immediate days.

Malia has an army of friends that love her dearly from near and far.  Anyone willing and able to help or just want to reach out, please contact  Bryan or myself, our younger sister Sherry, or Amy's friend Cheryl in Kenosha.  Share this page with others that would want updates.  And please send your prayers, well wishes, meditations, and good vibes her way.  I know many of you are concerned about Matthew's school arrangements and at this time Bryan and a friend have worked out a schedule that works for them to get Matthew to school in the morning and Bryan to pick him up after school.  His employer has been very easy to work with, for which he is very fortunate.

My sister and I are planning a visit  (I am in Montana, Sherry is in Minnesota) in the near future but are waiting on a few more details on her advancements.  Our mother, Fely, is in Iowa and is in fine health. She asks for everyones prayers for Amy's full and swift recovery.

I will try and keep this page updated on her condition.
At this time, only immediate family/one visitor is allowed  at the hospital due to Covid restrictions.
Please let me know if you have any questions and I will answer them best I can.

We love you Amalia!! And Bryan and Matthew are in our thoughts.  Love to all of you out there.  And we, the family,  are incredibly grateful to all of you.  Amalia's fortitude is evident in the path she walks, the life she lives and in the vast network of loving and thoughtful friends she has amassed.  I thank you all.

God speed

With Love,

Michelle
