On Monday September 26th Dad went to the ER for a persistent pain and lump in his neck on the left side.  Imaging revealed an abnormal mass and he was immediately referred to an “Otolaryngologist” (head and neck surgeon) at SLU for evaluation and further testing.  Dad was seen 2 days later by Dr. Ronald Walker,  who performed scoping and and biopsy same day revealing squamous cell carcinoma thus confirming the mass to be cancer.

On October 4 a PET scan was done to confirm staging and course of treatment.

October 7th Dad was officially diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic cancer of the Larynx (voice box) which has spread to nearby lymph nodes creating the lump in neck.  He has agreed to an aggressive 7-week  radiation &  chemo treatment plan which will begin early November.
