In December 2016, Alissa, who recently turned 37, noticed a lump in her left breast.  She scheduled a mammogram to see if it was of any concern.  In early January, she waited for the results of the mammogram.  Doctors took her back for an immediate ultrasound to get a better view of what they saw on the image.  Two days later, doctors confirmed via biopsy that the mass was indeed cancer.  Stage 3 Invasive Metastatic Mammary Carcinoma that has spread to the axillary lymph nodes underneath her arm.   The next few weeks were a whirlwind of appointments, poking, and prodding.  The doctors decided to begin with an aggressive 16 week chemo treatment plan followed up by a double mastectomy.  This is the reason for our page.  We hope to update this page with Alissa's progress.  Please follow along as she walks through this journey, and leave a message of encouragement for her to read.
