Alison Wilson Alison Wilson Updates

Alison was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2015. She had surgery at that time to remove the cancer from her colon. After the surgery she was clear of visible cancer for three years. She has been following up with her oncologist since then. In September 2018, at her three year check up she found out that the colon cancer had metastasized to her abdomen. She started chemotheopy in November and after four treatments had a scan which showed that her tumors were responding to the treatment and her oncologist recommended her for surgery. She met with a surgical oncologist at EVMS in Norfolk, Va in January 2019. He told her she was a good candidate for surgery. She is scheduled for surgery, Tuesday, February 26th. The surgery will consist of removing the four tumors that they saw on the scan and looking for any additional tumors. She will also receive an HIPEC internal chemo treatment during the surgery. The surgery is expected to take up to ten hours.
