Alison was diagnosed with Stage IV, Breast Cancer with multiple metastasis in her lumbar and sciatic vertebrae, femur and ribs in July 2017. The cancer is Estrogen positive, Progesterone positive, HER 2 negative. The lesion in her right femur is large enough to weaken the bone so her orthopedist inserted a titanium rod so she could be full weight bearing. During the same femur surgery her ovaries were removed as part of treatment to stop the production of estrogen. Hormone treatment is the best treatment available for her type of cancer. She started formal hormone therapy treatment two weeks ago. Due to the rapid growth of the lesions she will also begin radiation therapy to shrink the lesions within the L3 vertebrae, sacrum and right femur. Her doctors will repeat scans every 12-14 weeks to monitor the progress of treatment and growth of lesions.
