Alice Mattson

Welcome to our CaringBridge site for Alice & Jacob Mattson. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting and sharing with us. 

Alice Mattson is 7 years old and Autistic, an amazing artist, and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL) – a kind of childhood cancer, at the end of April 2021. With a large mass growing in her chest and obstructing her airway, and the cancer spreading through her system, she was transported to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin where they began treatment immediately. From the moment Alice was released to return home on May 4th, her father Jacob Mattson has been working hard to make her as comfortable as possible and helping her cope with the many changes in her life. While we are hopeful that she will reach remission and beat this cancer, the information available suggests that Alice will be continuing to battle Leukemia for the next 2-3 years.

We are so fortunate to have a strong support system, and we, Jacob and Alice Mattson’s family, have started a GoFundMe to help alleviate the financial burden of caring for a sick child and the loss of income from not being able to work during this crucial time. Because Alice is autistic, most of her medical care (appointments and treatments) are covered and some of the travel expenses get reimbursed. There are also health and hygiene items needed regularly that we are working to get covered thru available programs, however Jacob still has to cover the basic living expenses that pile up when you can’t go to work – including rent, electricity, internet, phone, plus car insurance and repairs so he can get Alice to her appointments.

Community is how we survive hardship, and we can't tell you what your love and support means to us.
