Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

As many of you who come to this page already know, our dear pastor, friend, and family member Alice was diagnosed with a Stage 4+ Glioblastoma brain tumor on May 8, 2019.  She had surgery by a leading Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon on May 17 to remove as much of the tumor as possible. She came through the surgery beautifully and continues to be both reverent and irreverent, deeply caring, funny, witty, and ready for both fun and changing the world for justice, with restorative naps as needed.  She will start a combination of chemotherapy (by pill once a day) and targeted radiation treatments (5 days/week) on Thursday June 20.

Please continue to keep Alice and Chris and their family and all of us who love Alice in your prayers.

Gracious God, we lift up your servant Alice to know and experience your generative and powerful embrace of love for herself.  Help her to continue to be both exuberant and patient, caring and self-caring, telling all of us about the strength of God’s love, and standing as a warrior for social and economic justice, racial justice, climate justice, and every-day, down-in-the-dirt-growing-things justice.

Help her beloved Chris and their children to know they are supported and loved by all their family and friends. Help Alice and Chris to know all this as they walk in love, going forward on this challenging path.

In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
