Hi Everyone - we thought by starting this Caring Bridge for our Dad, this could be the easiest way to communicate what is going on.

On the week of March 4th, our Dad came down with what we thought was the flu/strep/some kind of virus. He had a high fever, chills and was losing his balance a bit. After visiting his primary physician, they gave him antibiotics and told him to head to the hospital if he continued to get worse. On March 11th, our Dad was admitted to the hospital. After a CT scan and a MRI, they confirmed that he had an abscess in his brain. They weren't sure what caused this abscess but knew immediately he needed to go into surgery to remove it. On March 12th, he had surgery on his brain to remove the abscess. Surgery was successful and he is in the hospital recovering. The road to recovery is yet unknown, but will require physical therapy and occupational therapy to get him back to his old self.

We appreciate all of the love and support we've received during this difficult time. We know it means a lot to him to have the support and love from family and friends from around the world. As we know more we'll continue to update everyone.

PS - our Mom is a trooper and is handling this as well as can be expected.

PPS - Despite Dad's attempts at using humor to connect with his nurses, they have continued to do a great job of keeping him comfortable.

Please note - we are not taking donations at this time. If you would like to donate to CaringBridge.org to help them out as an organization, please do so via the "Tributes" link up top.

Love,
Marina & Eugene
