Alex was in a car accident late night June 22, 2012. He was in the passenger seat and the driver was going around a curve (the police are not sure but think) the driver lost control hit the curb and the car rolled, they think neither of them were wearing their seat belts since they were both got ejected for the vehicle. Alex had a fractured pelvis in front and back, a bruised heart & lungs, collapsed lung, fracture skull and traumatic brain injury. His brain is swelling and so is his left eye. the driver had similar injuries but they are not anywhere near what Alex's have been. Please keep Alex and his family in your prayers, Thank you!
Alex was in ICU for 2 weeks and in a extra care hospital for 2 months, a rehab hospital in CO for 2 months and another rehab hospital in NE for almost 4 months. He was in a coma for 92 days. Many ups and downs during recovery with pneumonia, elevated heart rates, infections, high temperatures and a couple of seizures. Learning to swallow, talk, walk, eat and personal hygiene all over again were daily struggles for many months and walking, talking and swallowing are still issues today (2017). His cognitive abilities will be affected for the rest of his life.
