As our friends and family you know the ongoing battle Alex has had with his epilepsy. Four years ago he under went surgery to help alleviate the seizures. After the surgery he went from seizures everyday to once every 4 days. In 2013 he received his first vagus nerve stimulator that got the seizures down to every 6-8 days. Unfortunately he also has them almost every time he gets excited or is having fun. The doctors believe that now, with some advancements of modern medicine, they can perform this same procedure on the area in Alex's left frontal lobe where they believe the seizures are originating. Today Alex completed his pre-anesthesia testing and he will undergo surgery October 24th. They are expecting us to be in the hospital about two and half weeks. While there is no guarantee that this will eliminate his seizures Alex has decided this is what he wants to do. As he says, "If I don't try something else nothing is going to change." We ask that you pray for Alex and his medical team. Please pray for minimal swelling of Alex's eyes as the doctor has told him to expect his eyes to swell shut after this surgery and it is one of the things that Alex is most worried about. We will update his page often while he is in the hospital.
