Hello family and friends. Most of you don't know that Chris and I had been thinking about having children for over a decade. It was actually during tent pillow talk while climbing Mt Kilimanjaro that we decided to make it happen! So we hired a renowned international agency called Growing Generations to help us find an egg donor and our incredible surrogate Stacy from Missouri (just outside of Kansas City). Fast forward to April of this year...we were pregnant with twins (via IVF), Alexander and Katherine Lacovara-Green....due to come in to this world mid December. Regrettably, on Friday 9/1, they (as their Aunt Karen put it) "couldn't wait to see us" and were born very prematurely at 23 weeks gestation weighing 1.4 and 1.6lbs respectively. Katherine (Kate) came in to the world 1st and little Alexander (Alex) came 6 minutes later. Stacy had an incredibly uncomplicated pregnancy until that moment. We will forever be indebted to her for her selflessness and still look at her as our 'miracle maker'. (shout out to her wonderful husband Andy too as he has been her rock. Go Royals)! Needless to say, little Alex and Kate are in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Kansas City and will remain critical for some time. They are on respirators and are being carefully monitored as all of their organs continue to develop. We started this site primarily because we strongly believe in the power of prayer and our little peanuts REALLY need them now! In addition, I kind of couldn't keep up with the overwhelming outpouring of loving texts and emails we were receiving and I am one that 'can't not' respond to them ASAP (it's a personal problem I'm working on)! I thought this wonderful site might lighten the load a bit as all days thus far we are deliriously drained emotionally. We have taken an apartment close by and plan to be here through atleast mid December, when they are released. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I will give medical updates and post photo's soon. Pray! Pray! Pray! Much Love, Sam, Chris, Alex and Kate
