When Al went in for his pre-operative exam for a routine hernia surgery in early February, his blood work came back with alarmingly low platelet and white blood counts. He was immediately hospitalized, and a bone marrow biopsy confirmed that he has acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This is, according to his oncologist, a sudden-onset illness and research has not yet uncovered the triggers or mechanisms behind its onset.

We have started this page to keep in touch and give family and friends a place to connect. Al is going through a tough time, and we know the support of his family & friends means a great deal.
