Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Al is diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma.

May 25, 2017

Al has not been feeling well for several months. May 21st he was scheduled to preach at our church, New Life Church of Woodbury, and he felt led to preach on the greatness of God. While his mind and heart were being "Gripped by the Greatness of God," his body was suffering. Through a series of doctor appointments, we discovered last Friday that he has Mantle Cell Lymphoma, an aggressive cancer of white blood cells. It is quite advanced in his digestive system to the point where he is now only taking liquids and experiencing a lot of discomfort.

Al has had a battery of tests and after the doctors receive the results of these tests they can form a “recipe” of drugs for chemo treatment. Chemo is the only medical option. No radiation or surgery. Until the initial program is formulated we don’t know specifics.

 Pray for:
Healing, Remission
Protection for his digestive system-that it would remain open so he can eat.
Wisdom for the doctor to know what chemo protocol to use.
Al’s body to respond favorably to the treatments.

Our hearts:
We are somewhat numb.
Al is just feeling sick and weak.
But, our confidence is sure.
This is God’s plan A. He never needs a plan B on the side.
It is no coincidence that while Al was preparing the sermon “Gripped by the Greatness of God,” God was preparing Al’s heart.
Thanks, Robbie, for preaching that sermon in your dad’s stead at New Life on Sunday to the rest of us! Robbie was enabled by the Lord to preach about the greatness of God -knowing then, that his dad has serious cancer. Our confidence come from God's faithfulness.

We don’t have to figure it out…we just need to trust our loving and powerful great God.
We are in His hands…the safest place to be.

We remember this song chorus:
O, the wonder of it all, the wonder of it all,
Just to think that God loves me.

That’s where we’re at.

With much love and prayer that you can trust with us,
Al and +Joyce
