At the beginning of April, Al went to see his doctor for some new difficulties swallowing. After many procedures and tests he was diagnosed on April 24th with a Stage 4 adenocarcinoma of the lower esophagus , that spread to his liver. The plan is to do chemotherapy every two weeks to shrink the tumor and provide relief of his symptoms . His first chemo was on May 2nd, but has to wear a chemo pump for 48 hours after receiving the initial chemotherapy.
As you can imagine this has been a huge shock to our family, and we are still processing the diagnosis. We want to thank all of our friends and family who have been overwhelmingly supportive during this process. We truly appreciate your love, and kind supportive words and gestures.
