Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
On Thursday August 25th following dinner, Aiden took the ranger to run trash to the burn pit. On his way back he lost control of the ranger, rolled it, and was ejected. Jake noticed it had been a little longer than it should take for Aiden to return, looked out the window and saw the ranger in the ditch. Kaley and Jake crossed the road, found Aiden unconscious in the ditch. They immediately called 911. EMS arrived on the scene and started caring for Aiden. EMS paralyzed Aiden due to a potential head/neck/back injury; they also intubated him on the scene. AirCare arrived and flew Aiden to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Children's Hospital.
Upon arrival and assessment, Jake and Kaley were informed that Aiden had a small brain bleed, diffuse axonal injury, several skull fractures, and several broken ribs. For the first 72 hours, Aiden was completely sedated to lower the risk of brain swelling. After 72 hours of monitoring, Aiden's swelling and vitals were stable. Follow along for more updates as the doctors closely monitor Aiden's condition and move forward with a plan.
We appreciate your prayers and support during this difficult time. We are asking that God would heal Aiden, and we are confident he will provide everything that we need in the midst of Aiden and our family's suffering.
