LIFE IS GOOD, even when it’s full of surprises that seem to come out of nowhere, and that’s exactly what life has delivered to me. What I thought was a summer cold turned out to be non small cell adenoma carcinoma in my right lung. It is pressing against my right airway passage and my vocal chords making it extremely difficult for me to breathe and exacerbating my underlying COPD.
I have so much appreciated all of your calls and texts of concern, love and support but have had neither the voice nor the energy to answer them. Since I first caught a cold on June 8th my health has been in a rapid downward spiral that landed me in the ER five times and finally in the hospital on August 21.
THE GOOD NEWS: On August 23 I started a targeted radiation course to shrink the area that is constricting my air passage, and the plan now is to follow up with chemo to treat the entirety of the cancer. I am being treated at the St. Clair UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. While I am being treated I am staying at Marian Manor in Greentree, 2695 Winchester Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15220. ROOM C107
