Welcome to My Caring Bridge Website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
As many of you know, I have received some terrible news. I went to the doctor because I felt a pressure on my chest, thinking I had developed a small case of bronchitis or pneumonia or even asthma. It turns out that I have a large and vicious sarcoma tumor growing in my left lung and heart. My prognosis is not good. This news hit our family suddenly, like being hit by a car on the highway. One day, our lives were perfect. The next day, the ground drops from under us.
It is too dangerous to operate, so I am undergoing hardcore chemotherapy up at OHSU. I just finished day 2 of chemotherapy and am tolerating it ok. I am surrounded by friends and family and so much love. Thank you to all who have reached out to me. I love you all so much and need your support so much right now.
My hope is to go home on Thursday, but I may be very tired and sick, and I will lose my hair...this is the least of my worries. I will be in two more rounds of chemotherapy after this one. Every few weeks I will return to the hospital as an inpatient for three days.
I am fluctuating between moments of utter grief and moments of lightness and hope. All distractions are welcome. I will need a miracle to survive this one , but I believe in miracles.
I appreciate your messages here, and will do my best to keep things up to date.
