On Tuesday morning, November 21st, Baby Adeline stopped breathing while at daycare.  CPR was started and Addy was taken by ambulance to Essentia Health.  Addy was resuscitated and stabilized before she was transferred to Sanford Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

At Sanford, Addy had a series of tests which confirmed that while Addy had not suffered any traumatic brain injury, the central part of her brain has been damaged due to a lack of oxygen. Addy is on a ventilator that is breathing for her.

Addy's cardiac function is also depressed which means that her heart is having to work extra hard to pump her blood.  The cardiologist has prescribed medication to help her heart relax and to improve heart function.  The doctors will repeat an echocardiogram tomorrow to see if the medication is working. On a positive note, her kidneys are working well.

Obviously, we are eager to find the reason why she stopped breathing.  Her tests have shown that she has three viral infections, all of which are, or are similar to, the common cold.  The doctors believe it is possible, though they cannot confirm it, that one of these viruses impacted her heart.

We will keep you informed on Addy's progress, as updates are available. We appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers!
