On Wednesday, June 17th, Adam will be undergoing surgery to donate part of his liver to his sister, Mandy. Mandy has bravely battled Stage 4 colon cancer since 2017. This surgery will provide her a healthy liver so that she can beat metastatic colon cancer. And if you know Mandy- she can and she will!

The surgery will take place in Chicago at The University of Chicago Medical Center. This will be a unique surgery as it is part of a pilot program to do liver transplants for patients with metastatic colon cancer. Mandy will be the first patient for this program.

In the operating room, the surgeon will make an incision just below Adam's rib cage down to his belly button. The transplant team will then remove part of his liver. How much of the liver is removed depends on the overall size of his liver and the needs of his sister. After surgery, Adam will be closely watched in the ICU for 1-2 days. He will then complete his recovery in the hospital for an additional 3-5 days. His full recovery period will last between 4-6 weeks.

We will use this site to provide updates on the surgery and Adam's recovery. Thank you for your support, encouragement, and prayers!
