Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

In May 2016, our pediatrician (Dr. Terry) noticed a mass in Rob's abdomen at Rob's one year well baby checkup. Dr. Terry referred us to MCV Medical Center for an ultrasound. After several scans, a biopsy and other tests, the doctors there concluded that Rob had a neuroblastoma, a tumor that formed above his adrenal gland. The tumor had spread across his mid-section, making it Stage 3.

The typical treatment for this type of cancer is eight rounds of chemo, followed by surgery and/or radiation, and management chemo, with scans every three months to make sure the cancer hasn't come back. As of August 2016, we've had four rounds of chemo, and the tumor has shrunken in response!

We love the doctors and nurses at MCV, and we've really appreciated all the love, prayers and support for Rob and our family during this time.  Our primary doctor at MCV is Dr. Gowda, with nurses Dianna and Jennifer at the clinic. We'll use this page to provide updates as much as possible!
