Early in May Adam was having pain in his abdominal area, he visited his MD a couple times through May and June and no abnormalities were found with a physical exam. The pain persisted into July and Adam received a CT scan.
On July 10th our world was turned upside down as he learned he had stage IV colon cancer that has metastasized to his liver.
On Monday, July 13th we had our first of many appointments with an oncologist at Regions hospital. Because it was diagnosed through a CT scan, we still need to get a biopsy done to confirm pathology (this happens Friday, July 17th)- Once we know more about the cancer cells themselves we are hoping that we can even better target the cancer.
Adam's treatment plan will be to start Chemotherapy as soon as possible (currently scheduled to start July 29th) in an effort to control and manage the cancer to extend his life longevity and quality.
We are so very grateful for the outpouring of support we have already received and know we will continue to need it in the days, months, and hopefully years to come. At this time we do not have great needs, we welcome messages of love and support, yet phone calls have been hard. Weve set up a go fund me, as it is very clear we will have many unexpected expenses, and a loss of Adam's income. Any donations made on Caring Bridge go to help the Caring Bridge organization.
