Just a few of Abby’s favorite things: tomatoes, bubbles and outside time

At 18 month old, an MRI found a tumor in the medulla portion of Abby’s brain stem. They believe the mass to be slow growing, as it has only caused mild deficits to her motor function and swallow, and she has had no acute regressions or decline in health. After two open brain biopsies, she has officially been diagnosed with a grade 1 ganglioglioma. She began 2 years of daily, oral chemotherapy in July of 2022. The neuro-oncologist sounded hopeful with her prognosis being we can shrink the tumor with treatments, but this will likely be an ongoing journey for many years to come. Her goal is for the tumor to become dormant through many treatments, but it will always be with her and will likely grow multiple times throughout her childhood. In her words, “You will get to know our team very well over the coming years”. Abby is working under the care of the neuro-oncology department at Children’s Hospital of Colorado, Anshutz in Aurora, CO. They are one of the best in the country and we are so blessed to have them so close.

Love Always,
Andrea, Tim and Abigail Audrey (Audrey is Anglo-Saxon for "noble strength" in case you didn't know..we did and haven't forgotten!)
