Aasiya Abdul-Wahid

On Thursday evening, 11/10, at the age of 15,  Aasiya made the decision to end her own life.  We discovered her at 10pm due to friends stopping by the house and ringing the doorbell asking us to check on her.  Thanks to their alert, we were able, with the help of the Fridley EMTs & Fire Department, to resuscitate her and bring her via ambulance to Children's hospital - Minneapolis.


Unfortunately, and much to our heartbreak, the time Aasiya spent without oxygen has severely and irreparably damaged her brain and she will never again wake as her bright, beautiful, loving self.  As a result, and in honor of Aasiya's dearest friend, Emma Willcox, we are honoring Aasiya's fervent desire to become an organ donor.  We have been told that Aasiya's gift will allow up to 60 individuals to change their quality of life - and in some cases - save their lives.  As of the writing of this, Aasiya will remain on life support pending the matching and selecting of organ recipients.


We have not decided upon final arrangements, but want to thank every one for their well-wishes and support during this devastating time for our family.  Any announcements of arrangements or a celebration of Aasiya's life will be posted on this site.
