Welcome to our CaringBridge site. We've created it to keep friends and family updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during this time when it matters most.

Aaron's journey towards kidney transplant began in December of 2014.  He went to his pediatrician for allergies and ended up in Children's Hospital for 12 days! We discovered that Aaron has Microscopic Polyangiitis, a rare autoimmune disease, that had destroyed both of his kidneys. He was severely anemic, had extremely high blood pressure and was walking around with over 10 pounds of excess fluid in his system. The incredible medical team at Children's got him stabilized and into dialysis.

For the next 14 months, Aaron endured kidney dialysis every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:30 in the morning until 10:00. He has had to follow a very strict diet and is restricted to only 40 oz. of fluids per day. He has been on Immunosuppressant medications to get his disease under control and to stop it from doing further damage, In October, we were told that his condition had been adequately stabilized to pursue a kidney transplant. This was incredibly good news, but was merely the next step in the journey.

Once Aaron was officially approved for a transplant, the search for a donor began. After the first two potential donors had been disqualified, Aaron's stepmother, Cindy stepped up as the next candidate. Cindy went through an unbelievable number of tests and was finally approved as a donor in December. We quickly scheduled the next available surgery date which is February 3rd. That will be the day when the next chapter of Aaron's story will begin.
