Aaron and Joanna have three daughters...Kennedy (7), Reagan (5) and Lydia (3). Baby Grace McKinley is due to arrive in March. Pray for Joanna's pregnancy to continue in great health until Grace is ready for us!!

After battling unexplained back pain for nearly a year, Aaron had a CT scan on Thursday.  The scan revealed two masses in his abdomen – a smaller mass in the mesentery between his stomach and spleen, and a much larger mass partially encasing his abdominal aorta and vena cava.  On 1/18/17,  we met with an oncologist who feels strongly that this is cancer and that it is likely related to the testicular cancer Aaron had in 2006.  
Our older girls understand that Daddy has been in pain for a long time and that we have, thankfully, found the source of the pain – something in Daddy’s tummy that shouldn’t be there.  But basically, to them, nothing has really changed and we are thankful for that as long as it lasts.
Obviously, there is a lot of sadness right now and a lot of feelings of being overwhelmed, especially because of the timing with my pregnancy.  Many of you have asked how you can help. Right now, our needs are low, but there is no doubt that in the coming weeks and month, those needs may increase dramatically, and we will not hesitate to communicate them.  Prayer is the best medicine at this point.  Please pray for Aaron’s pain to ease; for quick results and clear answers from the tests; for direction and wisdom on treatment; for our ability to find joy in each day; and that ultimately God would be honored and glorified through us during this time.

Tuesday morning, 1/22/17, Aaron and Joanna met with Dr. Bagrodia at UT Southwestern in Dallas.  Aaron was admitted  to facilitate tests that will enable his medical team take immediate action. He'll undergo MRI/CT/sonograms and biopsies to determine exactly where, and what type of cancer he is fighting.  For Aaron, please pray for pain relief, clear test results, and wisdom for the BEST plan of action that will bring complete and total healing. For Joanna and baby Grace (due in a few weeks) please pray for peace, comfort and rest. Amen!
