Jake is very quick witted. He likes old movies, comics, 80s and 90s music and wants to be an astronaut. He is taking this osteosarcoma dx in stride and is able to remain upbeat much of the time. He was diagnosed initially in August. I took him to his PCP thinking he tore a lig in his jnee, two days later we sat with a pediatric oncologist at UNC. We are grateful to have such an incredible team but our friends and family have made me cry more than once because of beautifully selfless kind and loving words and gestures. Jake was even anointed by his "most favorite" Monsignor Ingham. Jake is my son and he always revs up during a competition or race. He loves soccer basketball and his favorite, lacrosse. Jake trained many years to earn his trainer certificate and 2nd degree blackbelt in taekwondo. I loved watching him work and spar with the younger kids at dojo. Jake is that kid who sticks up for others and is a loyal friend. I have asked God many times over the years what I did to be blessed with such a uniquely wonderful son. Thank you for reading and visiting, your comments, prayers and pictures mean so very much to us. It will be a rough year, but we know Jake will be running again next year. We are grateful to every life that cares for our son and every prayer sent.I will update Jake's progress here regularly and hope our friends and loved ones will also use this site for positive thoughts, pics, prayers, facts or stories.
