CaringBridge Launches Annual Year-End Giving Campaign

Eagan, Minn., (November 29, 2016) — Today, CaringBridge launches its annual year-end giving campaign to raise $1.2 million. This year, CaringBridge asked users and donors: What does CaringBridge mean to you? With answers ranging from “hope” to “help,” CaringBridge will share those messages throughout the holiday season.

The global nonprofit social network, fueled by the generosity of donors, offers free personal, private websites to connect family and friends to those experiencing a health crisis. Donating to CaringBridge ensures that no one has to go through a health journey alone.

Nearly 90 percent of funding comes from real people, with real stories, who have used CaringBridge to support themselves or a loved one. The year-end giving campaign features four match contributions from generous donors.

The campaign kicks-off on November 29 with #GivingTuesday, the global day of giving. There will be a one-day-only match up to $50,000 from the Segar family. An additional matching gift will be made by the CaringBridge Board of Directors on December 6th and 7th. Any donations on those two days will be matched up to $50,000.

Third, Barbara Hayes, a mother who experienced the power of CaringBridge through her daughter’s site, has pledged to match up to $25,000 in donations on December 13 through December 14. Closing out the year-end giving campaign, an anonymous donor has pledged to match donations dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 on December 20th and 21st.

Through CaringBridge, more than half a million brave and caring people with powerful stories connect and care for each other. “As a nonprofit, CaringBridge relies on donations to allow anyone facing a health journey the ability to connect with their family and friends in the way they choose, with no ads to distract from their story,” said Liwanag Ojala, CEO of CaringBridge. “Thanks to donors, they have a private and secure online platform to be constantly surrounded by the strength and love they need.”

The year-end giving campaign runs through December 31, 2016. To learn more or make a tax-deductible contribution, visit caringbridge.org/give.
