Eagan, Minn., (March 7, 2016) — CaringBridge, the nonprofit organization created to help people remain connected to their family and friends when experiencing a health journey, is pleased to announce the hiring of Krista Mathews as vice president of major gifts. In her new role, effective March 7, Mathews will work in partnership with Founder and Chief Ambassador Sona Mehring and CEO Liwanag Ojala, to build and grow the major gifts program of CaringBridge and will be a key driver in identifying needs in the major donor development area.
“Krista brings a wealth of knowledge of nonprofits and development to this position. She will help us identify important opportunities to continue on our journey of growth, allowing us make an increased and more meaningful impact for the millions of people who need CaringBridge,” said Ojala.
Mathews is no stranger to nonprofits and fundraising, bringing her strong leadership experience as senior major gifts officer at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota Foundation. Previously, she led development and corporate philanthropy at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Foundation, Inc. and served as director of development at the Minnesota Medical Foundation at the University of Minnesota. An alumna of University of Wisconsin – Madison and the University of Minnesota School of Law, she also has experience as a litigation attorney and judicial law clerk.

Outside of the organization, Mathews will coordinate with the development committee of the CaringBridge board of directors, fundraising volunteers and major gift prospects and donors. In this position, Mathews will be a key catalyst for ensuring the organization’s culture, systems and procedures support individual philanthropy for CaringBridge.
